xXBChaceXx’s Game of the Year
Awards 2013
2013 wasn’t my favorite year for gaming;
however, I was utterly impressed with some of the releases this year. 2013
brought many new sequels to beloved franchises, as well as revitalized IPs of
old. Last gen consoles were pushed to their absolute limits, and then some,
with the rise in graphical prowess, and developers pushing games to a whole new
level. With the transition to new consoles, came new hardware and technology
that granted developers the ability to produce games that they hadn’t been able
to previously. 2013 closed with the release of the Xbox One and the PS4, and,
yes, their games will also be included in the nominations. Alright, here we go!

Game of the Year
Grand Theft Auto V
Grand Theft Auto V, developed by
Rockstar, was a gem of this generation of gaming, aside from being the best
game this year. Breaking sales records, Grand Theft Auto V flew off the shelves
into the hands of gamers, and told the tale of 3 vigilantes, Trevor, Michael,
and Franklin, and their culmination of crime sprees, robberies, and other
heinous acts to make their way through fictitious San Adreas. With refinements
to gameplay, players can seamlessly change from character to character,
regardless of where they are in the game. Aside from the brilliant single
player (Minus a few gripes I had with the story) Rockstar excelled in
multiplayer. GTA V Online brought character customization, vehicle
customization, player housing, and utter mayhem into an open world where you,
the player, have the freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want, giving
the game endless replay value. Rockstar has yet to fail the expectations of
gamers, and continues to impress us with new installments of their beloved
franchise, which is why GTAV is my pick for GoTY 2013.
